Yamaha has officially kicked off the hype machine. The brand just dropped its first teaser for the upcoming R2 on its Indian Instagram handle, confirming a launch date of August 27, 2026. If you’ve been waiting for a fully-faired Yamaha below the R15, this is the one to watch.
The teaser is short, sharp, and deliberately tantalising — classic Yamaha marketing. You get a glimpse of the fuel tank with that signature R-series sculpting, and what looks like side winglets lifted straight from the supersport playbook. Winglets on a sub-R15 motorcycle? That tells you Yamaha isn’t positioning this as just another entry-level commuter with a fairing slapped on.
